Semester 1- The Vererdi

I'm going to quickly feature my work from last semester. It was a group based project, and we were required to design a game, completle with a story line, concept art, environmental art, story boards, etc.

We each chose to create our own species, and so I chose to develope a race of people called the Vererdi that have been running around my head for about 3 or 4 years now.

Lols, first ever images of the Vererdi. Please bare in mind that this image is horribly old now ^^

So onwarrds! Here is the basic story line that the three of us decided on:

The game is based on the planet Solanorr- a thriving and beautiful world that is shared by many species, including two native humanoid races- the Vererdi and the Felinord.

The two races worship different deities, the Sun Cheetahs and the Moon Lions (respectively), both of whom have great power and hold the planet in balance. Without them, Solanorr would wither and die.

The third and final race, the Rayjen, are a reptilian people from a different world, and are born warriors who invade planets and take the power of the resident gods. Their own world is dying, and the energy gained from taking deities will enable them to terraform their planet into a paradise.

The invasion forces the Vererdi and Felinord to become allies in order to fend off the Rayjen army and so save their planet.

The next post will feature some of the concept art that I did for this project, and then after that I'll move on to the newest brief that I am working on.

Introductions I guess?

Well I guess it's time for introductions? (Oh, and please forgive any typos- I'm currently attempting to type on a pathetically small net book that crawls along slower than a snail).

My name is Rachelle Fryatt, and I'm currently studying Digital Art for Computer Games at Glyndwr University in Wrexham.
I hope one day to become a concept artist, specialising in creature or character designs.
I use Photoshop as my main media, but also enjoy using biro, watercolours, guache and inks. I really also hope to begin learning how to model both digitally on a computer and also in clay.

Errr....this is my rather crappy art gallery

I will be using this blog to document my current uni work as I go along, so this place will probably end up quite messy with all my ideas, scribbles and Work in Progresses.

First of all I'll shove my uni project from last semester in here, and then go from there.
Thanks for looking <3
